On June 2nd, the evening of my youngest daughter's graduation party, Jenny surprised me by revealing that she'd arranged a two week trip to Alaska at the end of January.  She did this by sitting me down in the middle of a group of about 60 friends and relatives, and presenting me with travel documents and a couple of Alaska tourist books.  I immediately discovered that, although I love surprises, I'm not that crazy about surprises presented in big groups of people.

Anyway...we're off to Alaska!  I can't be more excited. We look forward to silver salmon and halibut fishing, a wildlife cruse in Seward, and long hikes in Denali National Park.

We're able to do this trip very frugally.  Jenny has a few days work in Homer, so many of the expenses the first week of the trip will be on her company's dime.  My flight, the rental car, and several hotel stays will be on Jennifer's American Airline miles.  It's about time we got a small reward for being apart!   We all make sacrifices when Jenny travels, but Jenny makes the biggest.
